Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in The West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" location. Many people unfamiliar with the word tend to think it's an island that's in the west of Montreal However, in reality this part of West Island is home to everything from the City of Lachine west. The West Island is frequently referred to as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was short. Brugel grew to be a young woman living in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. She aspired to be professional, however due to a rapid increase in her height, she outgrew the dance partners she had. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. When I surpassed any male partner and stopped dancing, I quit. Brugel was one of many former dancers who turned into acting. The teacher she had at high school encouraged her into the right direction. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to go after a role in the school's annual production. The audition was successful and she was chosen as Anne of Green Gables. This led to her being awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. In the past 20 years, her work has been seen on the large and small screen. Her work gained most fame when she was offered the character of Rita in the acclaimed television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the sole Canadian on the season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast as well as appearing only on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
